About Me

Cornel Burzo

My name is Cornel Burzo, a 6 dan European Go player. I was born in Bistrita, a small town in northern Romania and discovered the game of Go in 1994 after moving to Baia Mare, where I currently reside.

Since then, I have participated in over 360 Go tournaments worldwide.
Some of my best achievements include:

I began teaching Go online in 2000 and stayed very active on platforms such as OGS, KGS, IGS, and Fox Go Server. I also frequently play training games on Fox GS, Tygem Baduk, and Wbaduk.

In addition to playing and teaching Go, I have a passion for tennis and skiing, and I hold instructor certificates in both disciplines.

My Advice to Go players for improving their playing skills

For those looking to progress from kyu to dan level, my first piece of advice is to play as many games as possible - practice makes perfect. Additionally, solving tsumego (life and death problems) will enhance your ability to read moves ahead.

Replaying professional games can provide new ideas, strategies, and improve your timing and sense of good shapes.

Reviewing your own games using AI can help you stay updated with the new trends.

However if you ever feel stuck, don't hesitate to contact me for online Go lessons. For more information about my offerings, check out my Go Lessons page.
